TESTIMONIALS

Dr. MJ Bienvenu

Gallaudet University

“I was thrilled and honored when Emily Glenn-Smith approached me about providing her my feedback. I first met Emily when she was in the Masters Program at Gallaudet University. From the first day she sat in my course, I saw something in her and knew that she intrinsically had a passion for learning, a passion for teaching and a passion for knowledge. She is a woman of principle, always seeking to have an exact and detailed understanding of the task at hand, never satisfied with the status quo. Her dedication to and thirst for knowledge is a wonderful quality in any student. The very next year, I was thrilled that she again took one of my classes. I thoroughly enjoyed the inquisition she offered to the course discussion. I also noted that she brought all she had learned in her professional teaching experience in Buffalo with both administration and curriculum to the benefit of her classmates. That type of influence is not easy in this environment, but she was skillful in her approach with her peers.  When I saw the benefit she provided by sharing her experience with the class, I knew that this woman had a tremendous future ahead of her. I know that she will excel in her profession and I look forward to seeing this amazing woman continue on to become “Dr. Glenn-Smith”. From the perspective of the Masters of Sign Language Teaching Program at Gallaudet University, I would strongly endorse the hiring of Emily, as she is a wonderful person, teacher, and administrator. She is a benefit to the field of ASL Teaching.”

Andrew Bottoms, MA

Boston University

I’m Andrew Bottoms and I was both proud and moved when Emily Glenn-Smith asked me to offer my thoughts about her. She is a wonderful woman. We were peers in our Masters program and she provided a tremendous benefit. She was someone that I immediately related to and she brought a contribution that is both difficult to describe and unlike anything else. She inspired me with her passion and the fire that she has in her heart when it comes to teaching ASL. Those that have an opportunity to work with her are truly lucky.

Anna, ASL Student

SUNY Buffalo

My name is Anna. I recently graduated from the University at Buffalo with a degree in Linguistics. While I was a student there, I took American Sign Language (ASL) classes for two years with Emily Glenn-Smith. She was an amazing teacher. She is enthusiastic and encourages students to learn. Before I took ASL, I was completely unaware that Deaf people had such a rich language and culture. After learning with Emily, I have a much stronger understanding. My goal for the future is to pursue my career in the field of ASL interpreting.
